The new Actros is one of dozens of examples of the Actros 5 equipped with the latest technologies, including Fleetboard and Predictive PowerTrain Control/PPC. With the ‘Fuel Duel’ programme, Mercedes-Benz Trucks aims to demonstrate the low fuel consumption of the new Actros, demonstrating the benefits of the new technologies on the road. The idea of the ‘Fuel Duel’ is to lend a truck to a potential customer for two weeks and use it in the daily operations of its own fleet. This allows the customer to compare the borrowed truck with his own trucks.

According to Mercedes-Benz, no fewer than 4,853 ‘Fuel Duels’ had been fought in 26 countries by the end of 2018, including 15.8 million kilometres with specimens of the only truck with Euro VI homologation. The results are impressive: victory in more than 90% of duels and a 9.8% drop in fuel consumption! The second-generation engines launched three years ago consume even less than the very first versions: a drop in consumption of 10.7% instead of 7.4%. All these duels were of course fought with the full sample of European competitors (same truck type and power category).

The fuel savings and associated CO2 savings are of interest to us as Vos Transport Group as are the applications that promote safety for our drivers and fellow road users. We can make good use of the Actros for our long-distance trips to Scandinavia, the UK, France and Germany. We remain committed to innovation and further development in cooperation with our partners.
