Health, Safety and Environment are integral parts of our management. They are embedded in our company culture and inherent in our service. We understand that our service is part of the macroeconomics and VOS Transport takes position and social responsibility in this.
We strive for continuous improvement of our health, safety, and environmental goals on all levels within our organization. In relation to our employees, we, as management, feel responsible to take care of transfer of knowledge in this field. It enables us to continuously improve our management and to educate involved employees.
Lean and Green
Durable transport means optimal loading, smart planning, the use of different fuels and modalities and we also study the fuel consumption of our drivers very closely. In 2010 we received the Lean and Green Award as reward for all our hard work. In the following years we were also awarded with the second and third Lean and Green Star because of our sustainability projects and initiatives. In total we reduced our CO2 footprint with over 35%. Today, this makes VOS Transport the first European operating road carrier with this status.
- Lean and Green Award: May 20th, 2010
- Lean and Green Star: November 12th, 2013
- Lean and Green 2e Star: December 7th, 2017
- Lean and Green 3e Star: March 6th, 2020
CO2 neutral transport
For years, VOS Transport has been researching the posibilities for CO2 neutral transport. We offer our clients the possibility for complete CO2 neutral transport, every single ride. We compensate all CO2 that is released as a consequence of the fuel combustion in the motors of our trucks. This way, you as our client have the choice to reduce your own CO2 footprint as well.
Durable transport can also be accomplished by intermodal transport. Several modalities of transport are used to get the products from one to the other place. Every trajectory will be matched on the load. We often work with optimal combinations of transport over water, land, and through air.
The use of sustainable fuels is an important part of our sustainable transport solutions. We use LNG, GTL and HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil). The latter is a good interim solution until we can make large-scale use of hydrogen in our fleet. HVO100 is produced based on hydrotreated vegetable oils and residual waste, such as animal fats. With the use of this sustainable diesel, we can achieve a certified CO2 reduction of 90%. In addition, HVO100 is lower in harmful emissions such as fine dust and carbon monoxide, which benefits local air quality.
